La Sagrada Familia Limited Edition Collection
The La Sagrada Familia Collection pays homage to the genius of Antoni Gaud and his iconic work on the Basilica in Barcelona, an architectural masterpiece that continues to inspire. Originally envisioned by bookseller Josep Maria Bocabella, the Basilica underwent a profound transformation in March 1883 when Gaud took over its design, infusing it with his signature style and vision. Gauds creative leadership extended through his life, though he famously remarked on the lengthy project timeline, “My client is not in a hurry.”
By the time of Gaud’s death in 1926, only 15 to 25 percent of the Basilica was complete. Construction resumed in stages and faced many challenges, including damage during the Spanish Civil War. Modern construction efforts have continued based on reconstructed plans and adaptations, with a projected completion date of 2026.
The La Sagrada Familia Collection captures this historic essence through intricate Guilloch engraving and vibrant Hard Enamel. Seven-sided geometric sunbursts reflect the majestic canopy above the Basilicas altar, while encircled crosses echo the famed ornamentation of the spiraling spires. Gauds signature is featured in high relief around the crown of the cap, a tribute to his lasting influence.
This collection is the twenty-fifth in the David Oscarson series of Limited Edition writing instruments and is available in two color variations, each limited to 73 pieces, representing each year of Gauds extraordinary life. This particular color is limited to just 8 pieces!
