Arabella and Anita were 2 ordinary spiders that made history in space in 1973. The idea for their mission came from a high school student who wondered if spiders could spin webs in a weightless environment. It took a couple of days for the spiders to adjust to their zero-gravity conditions, but eventually they were able to prove that spiders can indeed spin webs in space.
