The unique capless fountain pen, flagship of Japan’s Pilot Pen Company.
The Raden Series of Pilot’s Capless fountain pen is brought to you by Namiki who have decorated the barrels of these pens using the traditional Japanese raden technique of applying multi-coloured abalone shell fragments sealed with 10 layers of hand-applied lacquer. The result is a spectacular display of Japanese Maki-e artistry in 3 exclusive designs.
The Pilot Capless Fountain Pen was launched in 1964 in celebration of the Tokyo Olympics and provides the perfect combination of luxury and technology to the discerning fountain pen user.
A simple cap end push-button is used to protract and retract the nib and when in the closed position, an ingenious airtight seal prevents the nib from drying out.
Each pen is presented in a wooden Namiki gift box and comes with a DVD showing the intricate technique of applying the abalone shell fragments. This fountain pen is fitted with a rhodium plated 18k gold nib available in fine, medium or broad sizes and can be used with either Pilot ink cartridges or a converter for bottled ink. An ink converter is supplied with this pen.
